What we are not
We are not a booking site: nothing here takes your money or your dates. We are not a content farm: no article on this site was generated and published without a person writing it. And we are not a review aggregator — we do not average other people's opinions and present the result as a verdict.
How the guides are built
Every country has a guide, and every guide carries the same structured layer underneath it: what a day costs, which months are worth going, and what you need at the border. Those three answers come from index records rather than prose, which is what makes them comparable across countries instead of readable only one at a time.
- Cost — an editorial mid-range daily budget: a bed, three meals, local transport, one thing worth doing. Not a backpacker floor and not a resort figure.
- Season — a month-by-month rating that weighs crowds, prices, festivals, road access and daylight, not only weather. Measured temperature and rainfall (ERA5 reanalysis, 2005–2024) sit underneath the rating so you can see what it was judged against.
- Entry — visa status per passport, from the passport-index dataset, refreshed monthly, with our own override where an official source says something different.
Where a number would be a guess, we say we do not have it. "Insufficient data" is a legitimate answer here and an invented figure is not.
Travel advisories
When an official advisory covers a whole country, that country's standard scores are suspended and every surface says so in red. Red on this site means one thing and is never decorative. Where the risk is regional rather than national, the detail goes in the guide instead — suspending a whole country over one province would be dishonest in the other direction.
How we make money
Three ways, all of them visible on the page. The ExplWorld Verified partner programme, in which a business pays to be independently checked and listed. Sponsored stories, always labelled as such. And a small number of affiliate partnerships for things our editors genuinely travel with.
None of it touches the editorial layer. Listings, Verified tiers, ads and affiliate deals can never influence a score, a ranking, an ordering or a recommendation. Partners buy verification and placement. They do not buy the verdict, and they do not buy the maths.
Corrections
Travel information rots. Prices move, visa rules change overnight, a road closes for a season. If something here is wrong, tell us at editors@explworld.com and we will fix it and say that we did.
