Visitors can drive on a foreign licence once it is endorsed locally (or with an IDP) - in practice arrange it ahead, or better, hire cars with drivers, which is the norm.
0.08% - enforcement concentrated on the coastal roads
No toll network - only bridge tolls (Demerara Harbour, Berbice) in cash.
Low beams at night; the coastal road is unlit, busy with pedestrians, animals and unmarked obstacles after dark - avoid night driving.
No dependable child-seat supply or enforcement - bring your own seat for the coast; interior travel is by boat, plane and lodge 4x4 anyway.
Guyana drives on the LEFT - with Suriname, the continental exception. Self-driving makes sense only on the coastal strip; the Linden–Lethem laterite road wants a serious 4x4, spares and dry-season timing. Most visitors fly and let operators drive.
