Speed limits

50 / 80 / 100 km/h · 31 / 50 / 62 mph

urban / rural / motorway

International permit (IDP)

Required · Geneva 1949

IDP plus national licence; rental companies will not release a vehicle without it.

0.08% (0.8 g/l)

Tolls

The Kampala–Entebbe Expressway is tolled; the rest of the network is free.

Headlights

Not required by day.

Child seats

Not enforced or widely available.

Left-hand traffic. Night driving outside towns is strongly discouraged - unlit trucks, potholes and livestock. Park roads need a 4x4 with real clearance in the rains.

Rules change - verify with an official source before you rent.
