An IDP alongside your EU licence simplifies the frequent National Guard checkpoints (alcabalas); carry passport copies too.
0.08% on paper; enforcement is checkpoint-dependent - do not test it
Toll plazas exist on main highways but many are unstaffed or nominal; keep small dollar bills and bolívares for those that operate.
Low beams at night and in rain; daytime use not required - but daytime is the only time you should be on intercity roads.
Child-restraint rules exist but are not meaningfully enforced; bring your own seat if travelling with children.
Self-driving is not recommended for visitors at all: checkpoint shakedowns, fuel queues outside Caracas, poor road repair and robbery risk after dark. Practically all tourism here moves by internal flight and operator transfer - treat this section as reference, not encouragement.
